NATURE FETISH is a project conceived across social and disciplinary spheres. In its final state, it is a Public Opera, a hybrid, documentary, participatory, musical, situational performance of approximately 90 minutes. The opera will be presented by New York City’s first and only dedicated gallery for performance art, Grace Exhibition Space (840 Broadway Brooklyn, NY J/M/Z to Myrtle/Broadway). As part of each performance, PPL-curated artists working in time-based performance will deal directly with the “nature” of performance, operation of “nature” in performance, and conceptions of “nature” as such.
The 70-minute opera starts at 8pm each night (+ a 4pm performance on Saturday), the exhibition takes over at 9:30ish each night.
