CHIASUI CHEN
Originally from Taiwan, Chiasui Chen is an actress, designer, musician, dancer, choreographer, writer, and director. She earned her BFA at the Soochow University in music with major in piano. She started her acting career with the Godot Theater at The National Theater in Taiwan. She wrote, directed and starred in her scripted improvisation interactive live performance, "Our Daniel", which took place in several venues in Taipei. She was the casting director for the Hah-Ka feature film, "Sky Mountain Song". After moving to the US, Chiasui has performed on stage at The Public Theater, and BAX, among other venues. Her films have screened in Tribeca Film Festival and others. She has been awarded Telly Award, Aurora Award, Aegis Award and Spotlight On Award. More recently Chiasui co-wrote, choreographed, and performed in "Cultur(e)ality, Part I; Loud is the Oral Diary of the Western World" with Panoply Theater Laboratory; performed in collaboration with directors Michel Melamed and Tamilla Woodard in "Greed" as part of "The 7 Sins Project" with The Internationalists Director Collective. Chiasui is also a script translator (English into Mandarin or Taiwanese or vice versa).
