KATE GARFIELD




Kate Garfield descends from Scottish cowboys. She attended the University of Michigan, graduating with a BFA in Theatre Performance and a certification from the Society of American Fight Directors as an actor-combatant for unarmed, quarterstaff, single rapier, and single rapier and dagger. Kate has also studied at the British American Dramatic Academy with Lynn Farleigh(Shakespeare), Ben Bennison(Movement), Linda Gates(Voice) and Peter Francis James(Acting). She has traveled to Prague with Lorca In A Green Dress, by Nilo Cruz(Directed by Rebecca Engle), as part of a collaboration with the University of Michigan and Czech Republic theatre conservatory, DAMU, co-starred in Playing For Time for the grand opening of the Arthur Miller Theatre, directed by Robert Chapel, and recently starred in Catch, a world premiere at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival, originating the role of Gabriel. She also Highland Danced competitively for more than ten years (winning more than 100 medals), competing internationally with the Kathleen McMahon School of Highland Dance. Since arriving in New York, Kate has worked with Co-op Theatre East, The Michael Chekhov Theatre Company, at Colombia University (in Brian Kulick’s MFA Directing class), in readings at Ensemble Studio Theatre and with PPL. She is currently studies acting in New York with Joan Rosenfels, and at the Actor’s Accountability Salon.
