MEREDITH KITZ

Meredith Kitz was born and raised in the abysmal swamps off the Great Lake of Erie in Ohio. Her work exhibits a consistent desire to define the moment when words and physicality meet, either melodiously or caustically, to convey universal truths about ourselves and the perception of the world around us. Currently she acts as Assistant Director for the Cutting Ball Theater in San Francisco for the 2008-2009 season. This will include works by Ionesco, Fornes, Marlowe and Euripides. She is also a filmographer, and has made numerous music videos and shorts, including her current project, I Don't Enjoy Watching You, which personifies the daily life of television. Her past directing work includes the operas Where the Cross is Made and L' Incoronazione di Poppea, and the plays Dutchman by Amiri Baraka, and Freedomland by Amy Freed. As a performer, she has portrayed such characters as Lula in Dutchman and Suzy in Wait Until Dark. Meredith has also worked as an Artistic Director, dramaturge, sound designer, choreographer, scene designer, photographer and sketch artist.
