Say Something In a Little Bit of Time

Have been thinking more about the birthday show. I would like to have 10 five minute sets. Some solo, some duo. The theme would be say something in a little bit of time. The lab part would be the challenge of the five minute set. 10 sets equal 50. Does that sound cool?

Trauma Salon : gravity & the grotesque

Thursday, July 23rd 2015

the voice soothes; the body shudders. breathe in heat; heated breasts. we search our skin for unchanging signs. we seek to solidify this search through speech.
Hige sceal þe heardra, heorte þe cenre, mod sceal þe mare, þe ure mægen lytlaþ
(Mind must be the firmer, heart the bolder,
spirit must be the greater, as our strength diminishes.)
In such a way, we endlessly compose.

Hey Exit :
Hey Exit is Brendan Landis, a resident of Brooklyn. His music aims for an ambiguous middleground between loud and quiet, dense and sparse, bleak and optimistic – seeking not so much to oscillate between extremes as to find a space where they can coexist and influence each other

Naked Roots Conducive :
Naked Roots Conducive seeks to provide education and cultivate awareness concerning mental illness, addiction, and trauma. Our music is about surviving devastation through the beauty of creation. We feel that in confronting personal difficulties head on and shaping them into music and art we find a means of addressing the reality of our condition. We seek to create work that reveals the experience, struggles, consequences, and revelations of depression, bipolarity, and addiction. In striving towards clarity and transparency we discover a channel for personal and intrapersonal healing and tools for breaking down social stigma surrounding these diseases. We want to help others recover and find a way of living that is rooted in hope and creativity.
We will present a piece not unlike this mission and the darkness underscoring said emergence.

Avant! Guitar! Night! (guest curator Lucio Menegon)

Thursday, May 23rd 2013

This episode of Avant! Guitar! Night! will feature a killer combination of re-contextualized guitar sounds and re-contextualized projections.

Sandy Ewen - http://tinyurl.com/ctzce37

Amy Mills - http://tinyurl.com/ccqldud

Esther Chlorine - http://tinyurl.com/cs5gc9d

note: unfortunately, Sabrina Siegel had to bow out of the evening to mutual sadness, but taking her place is Esther Chlorine, keeping the original three lady lineup intact, in name at least.

***

Sandy Ewen uses extended technique and objects on her guitar - panning the resultant manipulations across two amplifiers to great effect.

Amy Mills creates and customizes her own Frankenstein guitars/instruments, getting really great sounds with a subtle composition sensibility.

Esther Chlorine are Greg Garbage on tapes and Brendan Landis on guitar and together emit "entropic post-coital papacy ritual, dank pond moss reflections and shrunken head chatter tenderly eviscerate a hallowed ground of cracked earthen thrones."

*** There will be projections of Sandy's mesmerizing visual art as well as some other surprise art visual stuff.

*** Avant! Guitar! Night! is an ongoing series curated by Lucio Menegon. The next A!G!N! is June 19. http://tinyurl.com/bvhvp39
